Ladies Win Pembrokeshire Tournament!

The 2022/23 season started successfully for Milford as they won the Pembrokeshire Cup!

The annual season opener, hosted by Milford this year, saw teams from Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire HC and Milford compete for the cup in a mini tournament format.

Milford opened the tournament against Carmarthen in what proved to be an evenly matched affair. The decisive goal came early in the second half when some brilliant link up play between Kacey Arran and Rachel Coe found Kaysha Price in the circle who slotted the ball home to put Milford ahead. A strong defensive effort in the closing minutes gave Milford a 1-0 win in their opening game.

A 1-0 win for Pembrokeshire HC against Carmarthen set up a “winner takes all” final match between Milford and Pembrokeshire HC. 

Pembrokeshire started the match strongly, dominating possession and forcing Milford to defend deep in their own half. However it was Milford who took the lead through a quick counter attack, Kacey Arran winning the ball on the halfway line and sliding a pass through to Charlotte Davies who eventually converted after a goalmouth collision with the Pembrokeshire goalkeeper. Shortly after a neat reverse stick sweep from skipper Rachel Coe put Milford 2-0 up heading into the break. Despite a late goal from Pembrokeshire, Milford’s defence stood firm to give the team a 2-1 win and crown them 2022 Pembrokeshire Cup champions!
