Milford were crowned South Wales Women’s Hockey League Division 1 Champions with a 1-0 over Penarth 3s.
Having already confirmed promotion from Division 1 the previous week, the Ladies headed to Penarth fully focussed on finishing the season at the top of the table.
The match started at a frantic pace with both sides looking to attack and creating some good chances. Milford edged ahead midway through the first half. Kacey Arran reacted quickly to a rebound from a Meg Griffiths cross to put the away side 1-0 up going into the break.
The second half was a much cagier affair with Milford sitting deep, determined to defend their lead. The away side rode their luck at times and some brilliant defensive efforts kept out a number of Penarth short corner attempts. But the girls worked hard until the final whistle to earn the win, leading to some memorable celebrations at full time!
Captain Rachel Coe praised the entire squad for their incredible effort over the entire season, which will now see the club playing SWWHL Premier 2 hockey for the first time in its history!
