Milford travelled to Sophia Gardens to take on Whitchurch 3s knowing they would face a challenging afternoon in the capital against last season's Premier 2 outfit.
The home side asserted their dominance in the early stages of the game, forcing Milford to work hard defensively and limiting their attacking chances for most of the first half. However Milford always looked to threaten on the counter attack and early in the second half the deadlock was broken with a swift move from deep in Milford’s half finding Rachel Coe, who drove into the D and picked out Sian Davies at the back post to slot home.
Milford’s determination to defend their lead was helped by a terrific defensively display from Meg Bowen-Jenkins who led the back line superbly. With 5 minutes remaining Milford put the game beyond reach when Alice Wonnacott converted from a well worked short corner. And despite some late attempts from Whitchurch calling goalkeeper Maggie Sturley into action, Milford held out to keep a clean sheet and record back to back league wins.
The Ladies will travel away again next week to take on league leaders Bridgend.
